Monthly Obsessions: September 2014

September is coming to an end which means that it’s time for my monthly favorites! To be a bit different from everyone else, and since I’m a Superfruit fan (go figure), I thought I’d call it “Monthly Obsessions.”

I just have a few favorites this month including beauty, fashion, and some other random stuff.

BH Cosmetics Rose Gold Brush Set Review

I am back with my first beauty post and it’s a review on the BH Cosmetics Rose Gold Brush Set!

Random fact: I am in love with everything rose gold! I was originally planning to buy the Zoeva Rose Golden Luxury Brush Set but it was a bit expensive and I just couldn’t find the heart to splurge on it. Yet. So when I saw this affordable set as I was scrolling through my Instagram feed, I opted to go with it for now. (Someday, Zoeva! Someday!) I ordered it last week from @makeovershop for only PHP 980.00 plus the standard shipping fee—not bad at all considering that it’s priced at USD 24.95 on

Stepping Out

It has been more than a year now since I thought of taking a short course in fashion styling; and it has also been that long that I’ve made up excuses not to. “But I’m so busy with my academics, I’m still working on my thesis.” But this, but that. Though to be honest, I was just scared. I was afraid that I might not belong in the fashion industry, that I might not be good enough, that I might end up just wasting my time.

Thankfully, I was able to finally convince myself to go ahead and take the leap. I enrolled in the Ortigas branch of the Fashion Institute of the Philippines as it is the nearest to my place. I actually think that now is the perfect time to do this after all, I only have one major class left in DLSU before I graduate and I don’t wanna spend my free time just bumming around.

Our first day was last Saturday and I got to meet my styling classmate and the students from the fashion photography class. Our mentor, Ryuji Shiomitsu, was surprisingly also a Lasallian International Studies graduate. What were the odds of that?

Aside from having the introduction lecture and the course schedule laid out, we also had our first street style shoot at Bonifacio High Street which posed a challenge for my very timid personality. We were teamed into stylist-photographer and we were tasked to look for 10 to 15 people whom we think dressed “fashionable,” approach them, and ask if we could take a photo of their outfit. After the first few successful ones, my assertiveness kind of overtook my shyness so my partner and I were able to finish the activity within an hour. Luckily, we didn’t get rejected even once. Yay?

As much as I would like to share the photos from the shoot here, I could not do so as I don’t have the proper consent of the “models.” And as much as I would also like to post my own outfit photo from that day, I cannot because I don’t have one. Hehe, my bad. I must say though, I am quite excited for the rest of our photo shoots!

So far, I am more than glad that I took this class and most importantly, that I am finally pursuing dreams beyond my comfort zone.

Trying Again

Hello, hello! It’s me again!

Here I am starting a new blog for the nth time—trying again. Midyear of 2013, I discovered the wonderful world of makeup and cosmetics! Soon after, I got hooked and would always find myself browsing the internet for hours drooling over staring at a variety of beauty products, both drugstore and high-end. So this time around, being a makeup enthusiast, I wanna focus more on beauty with a little bit of fashion and personal posts here and there.

That’s it for now. No rambly self-introduction ’cause I kind of suck at that. Talk soon, yes?
